Construction and development partners announced for dave’s house at Celery

Dave’s House at Celery Community: A New Chapter in Supportive Housing

At Dave’s House, we believe that solving the housing crisis means creating safe and affordable permanent supportive housing. For nearly two decades, we’ve built that foundation—developing homes where adults with serious mental illness can thrive, reclaim dignity, and rebuild their lives. Today, we are proud to share the next step in our journey: the selection of our development and building partners for Dave’s House at Celery Community, our first multi-unit residential campus in Seminole County.

Building Something New

Located on a five-acre parcel of land generously donated by Family of Friends, Inc., this new community will feature:

  • 16 duplex homes designed for independent living

  • A 3,500-square-foot community center for connection, workshops, and support services

  • Safe green spaces that encourage wellness and community life

  • On-site case management, peer support, healthcare partnerships, and job readiness programs

  • Convenient access to public transportation and local resources

With room for up to 30 adults living with serious mental illness and co-occurring disabilities, this community represents more than housing—it offers a new path forward.  By doubling our capacity and establishing a model that can be replicated statewide, Dave’s House is setting the stage for lasting change across Florida.

 Powered by Partnerships

This project is made possible through strong partnerships. Dave’s House is joining forces with Community Assisted & Supported Living (CASL), bringing decades of statewide expertise in affordable and supportive housing, and HomeAid Orlando, the local affiliate of a national nonprofit mobilizing the building industry to end homelessness. Together, we are combining expertise, vision, and resources to create a lasting impact.

Why It Matters

This project transforms lives in three powerful ways:

·       For residents: : A pathway from isolation and instability to safety, dignity, and belonging.

·       For the community: A scalable, sustainable solution that reduces homelessness while addressing critical behavioral health needs.

·       For donors and partners: A proven, replicable model of affordable, supportive housing that delivers measurable, lasting impact.

  • A Vision Taking Shape

  • 2023: Land donation secured from Family of Friends, Inc.

  • 2024: Rezoning and annexation completed; $1 million Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta grant awarded—the largest in Dave’s House history.

  • 2025: Engineering and design underway; CASL and HomeAid Orlando partnerships secured.

  • 2026–2028: Groundbreaking, construction, and the opening of the community to its first residents.

Looking Ahead

Dave’s House at Celery Community will more than double our capacity, expanding from nine single-family homes across Central Florida to a vibrant campus that will provide a home for up to 30 residents. For individuals who have faced homelessness, instability, and stigma, this community will be a place of healing, purpose, and hope.

Together, with our partners and supporters, we are building more than homes—we are building futures.
